QR codes have gained a huge amount of popularity in recent years and can be seen regularly in every day life.
But what are they?
A QR code, short for quick response code, is a two-dimensional barcode that consists of a pattern of black squares on a white background.
Did you know…
The QR code was invented by Denso Wave, a subsidiary of Toyota, in 1994, and was initially used in the automotive industry for tracking parts during the manufacturing process. Over time, QR codes gained popularity and are now widely used in various industries, including marketing and communications.
Nowadays
QR codes can be scanned using most smartphones or a QR code reader, which captures the information embedded within the code. In marketing, QR codes are often used to provide quick and convenient access to digital content, such as websites, promotional offers, or product information. They can be placed on print advertisements, product packaging or even displayed in physical locations like stores and at events. By scanning the QR code, users are directed to the desired online destination allowing businesses to engage with customers, provide additional information, and track marketing efficacy.
Metrics
One of the really great features of using QR codes, is that we are able to obtain and track certain metrics such as number of uses, time of use, and device type used to scan the code.
